What counsellors can do?

  • Actively listen to your concerns without being judgmental

  • Provide a safe, confidential space for you to explore your thoughts

  • Signpost you to relevant agencies, that can offer specialist support

  • Help you to learn more about yourself and express your emotions

What counsellors cannot do?

  • They cannot give you advice, solve your problems for you or direct your life. They will teach you problem solving techniques to empower you.

  • They cannot replace your GP’s prescribed medication

  • They cannot develop intimate relationships with you or go beyond professional boundaries as stated within the professions code of conduct.
