Five Ways to Wellbeing - LEARN

One of the five steps to wellbeing is Learn. Learning new skills is another way to improved well-being as it builds self-esteem and increased confidence in the process. Learning doesn’t have to be a complicated or expensive process, it can range from learning a new language, to learning to cook, learning about a DIY project etc.

Learning serves different meaningful purposes;

1.       It can leave you with a sense of achievement or attainment as you are able to learn how to carry out tasks you couldn’t do before.

2.       It can give you a space to connect with other people and make new friends.

3.       It can help you develop new skills that gives a renewed sense of purpose

Learning can take place in any environment. It takes place in diverse environments and there is no set place to learn.

These can include;

a.       Face to face or online,

b.       Formal or informal learning environment,

c.       On the job or as a student,

d.       In the classroom or remotely.

The key to learning is having a curious and open mindset that is interested in knowing more about the world and how things work. Additionally, a willingness to engage with different perspectives and ways of doing things can make learning fun and exciting.

Conversely, there are barriers to learning which can include;

a.       Stress and anxiety

b.       Lack of concentration or multitasking

c.       Poor time management

Learning has many useful benefits and it contributes to improved mental health and boosts confidence/self-esteem which aids overall wellbeing.
